The Ins & Outs
Dot commands are orders you can give the server. They begin with a period or "."
Hotkeys & Macros:
There are commands that in the course of play will be used over and over. To use these commands without constantly retyping them, the game client allows you to set a macro. This can be done from your paperdoll. Open your settings gump by pressing the button labeled "Options" and select the macro tab. In Age of Shadows, it is the bottom left tab that looks like a curved arrow meaning repetition. At the macro screen you can add a new macro by pressing add, edit macros already set up, or delete macros.
To designate a dot command to a certain macro, click your mouse in the window beneath "Keystroke" and then press the key you desire. Check the celtic symbols to the right of the "Keystroke" window to select other button(s) for your combination. An example would be Keystroke "A" plus a check next to "Ctrl". You will have to press control, hold it down, and press "A" to make the macro give the desired command to the server.
Please Note: If you select an existing key combination for a macro it will not work. Each combination will only work for one macro at a time. If your macro does not work, to ensure you are not repeating a previously used combination, click the previous or next buttons to scroll through the list of existing macros.
After deciding what key combination you will use, it is time to set what command the macro will execute. Below the key combination area there are two boxes. The first box is the first part of the command ) and the second box is for the second command (the second box will allow you to type what it is you want to make the macro say such as ".door") When you use your macro it will tell the server to "Say" -> ".door" causing any doors near you to open without having to click them.
To complete creation of your macro, click the Apply or Okay button at the bottom of the options window.
