World of Equinox

Magic Travel

Magical Travel

Magical Travel varies in almost every land. This is how magical travel works in Equinox. There are two forms of magical travel available to you. The first is runic travel and the second is travel via runebook. They sounds very similiar but they are really quite different.

Runic Travel

This form of magic is limited but available to everyone. You will require a Runic Memory scroll or to have the spell "Runic Memory" in your sorcery book. Spell casting does require reagents here, so if you are using a sorcery book ensure you have the proper reagents to cast. You will also need a rune and either the spell or the scroll of "Runic Travel." Runes can be carved of wood or purchased from NPCs.

Stand in the place you wish to record for later magical return. Use "Runic Memory" to mark your rune. After the rune has been marked, use "Runic Travel" on the rune. You must be standing very near
where you originally marked the rune. This will take the recorded location off the rune and make it your home point. You will be able to return to that place at any time by using "Runic Travel" on yourself.

If you have not manually set a homepoint as described above, your home point will be the default location. The default location for a home point here on Equinox is the University. If you are new to the lands and die, you will respawn at your home point whether it be the default or one you have selected. For this reason and many others, it is recommended your home be set as your homepoint for an easy return.

Magical Travel via Runebook

Runebooks can be purchased emtpy from the NPCs. You may want to keep an eye out for
Runebooks sold by players as they may have a few locations seared into the pages. If you have purchased an emtpy runebook from an NPC, you will require a marked rune and your runebook.

The runebook will not accept runes that are not marked. Mark your rune, as described under the
above section of "Runic Travel," and open your runebook. Click the add tab and target your rune.
The higher your inscription is, the more likely it is that the rune will meld with the pages of your book and not splinter or break. If you fail to inscribe the rune into your runebook only the rune will be lost, nothing will happen to your runebook.

Once a rune has successfully been entered into a runebook you will be able to rename it, destroy it
to remove it from your runebook, or best of all use it. To use a rune click the picture to the left of it's name. You will be able to teleport to that place at any time regardless of where your home point is.

There are some catches however. Not only do you require a high enough inscription to enter a rune into a runebook, which can be done by another character for you, but you must have a deep enough understanding of magery in order to open the runebook for use. (You the player would know this "deep enough understanding of magery" as 70 magery skill.) You will also require either a "Runic Travel" scroll or the spell inscribed in your sorcery spellbook with the sorcery spellbook in your pack.
