An Ever-changing World |
The Great Plague
Cyprien was a name to be feared, had it been known throughout the lands of Equinox. Those of the coven are never known. It is a part of their power and their protection. She was a witch of immeasurable power rivaling that of her sister, Marena. Leader of the Black coven, Cyprien had ties more important than those of family. Marena as the leader of the White coven was her sworn enemy. Marena would trouble her not in the days of the Great Plague however; she had been tidily swept away by the work of the Black Coven. Even those of the powers that be must yield to the lines in the sand they cannot cross. To acquire the blood of the white beast she would use her cunning to lure those of Equinox into her bidding. She had chosen well and all the tasks were accomplished to create the ring of power she sought. Upon the world, a plague unparalleled coursed through the blood of the innocent. Only once Marena was freed could what was wrong be put right. The death of Cyprien and the destruction of her ring ensured the peace and prosperity in Equinox again... for a time.
War of the Ancients
A great lull passed for the people of Equinox. Those who remained were still bound to the University for one reason or another. In this quiet time, the luster of a sharpened blade was replaced with a dull and listless people. Rendar lost no time being idle. He was with Dreuzas again and the stone murmured to him. It bid him to strike against Eärlindë. Rendar wanted revenge, a jewel for a jewel… the University for his estrangement from Dreuzas. For this he could have no less than the finest of the dragons and into this he invested his every waking hour. When at last his army was complete he set them forth upon the University, but the students were as prepared as they could be. They had heard the great winds and seen the sky darken. When the dragons could not pass the threshold of the gate, Rendar himself approached and made a deal with those who remained. It was a deal slanted to his favor, but they were without choice. They would either die or survive the gauntlet. The battle raged on for hours as hoards of dragons swooped down to join the fray. The students would not fall and the prize was won. Bonds to the University were broken and safe passage granted to all. At last, the people of the University were free to return home and others to explore a world which eluded them all that time.
