Kjalöl
Carved into the Great Mountain that created them, the Dwarves have made their lives here. While they are not deep below ground as the Dark Elves or Drow are, they live in a giant cavern dug out of a mountain much like the sacred caverns of the Sidhe. This place was not made of a natural spring however, but the hard work of each Dwarf searching to make a home within their creator. It is not difficult to find if one follows the trade caravans that sometimes travel between Haverstoke and Kjalöl. The entrance is far larger than need be for such a small people and gratefully so or no other race may come to make requests of this industrious race of crafters. The entrance was purposely made this way to allow large carts of ores and trade items to pass easily without disturbing the Great Mountain further. The Dwarves maintain strong links to the outside world in order to keep the purpose of their craft alive.
Upon entering the mountain you realize the chiming noises that could be heard outside are the many Dwarves working tirelessly over the forges and anvils. It is the song of their people and one that brings the town to life each day. The large rings of hammer on metal echo through the cavern but never does it seem that the sturdy mountain will fall. The feeling of the noise is quite different, almost as if it strengthens the mountain and each building found within. The houses are all made of the stones gathered in creating the cavern so that nothing of the Great Mountain is ever wasted. The roof of each building is flat and near the top of the cavern, not even the space of the Great Mountain is wasted so reverent are they of their creator and home. Even in times when a Dwarf leaves their Great Mountain home, there is never a place they love more.
For ones who are able to create such beauty, their town is a simple one. They have little interest in flowers or anything that cannot be smelted down into something more wondrous. The only beauty they can see is that forged of the hands of their own people and none other. It is here that any with a bag full of gold may place an order for whatever their heart desires. They will never deny a request so long as you have a way to compensate them. If you come to pay a visit to the Dwarves, one place must be visited lest you insult the village elders. Their tavern is a massive structure and is the heart of their city where all enter to work, share ale, and even meet for town meetings. It is a place worth seeing even if you care not about insulting these small mountain men and women.
