Carved into the Great Mountain that created them, the Dwarves have made their lives here. They are not deep below ground as the Drow, rather they live in a cavern dug out of the mountain much like the Dark Elves. It is not difficult to find, if one follows the numerous trade caravans. The entrance is far larger than such a small people need... or no other race may come to make requests of this industrious race of crafters. The entrance was purposely done to allow large carts of ores and trade items to pass easily without disturbing the Great Mountain further. The Dwarves maintain strong links to the outside world in order to keep the purpose of their craft alive.
Upon entering the mountain, you realize the chiming noises that could be heard outside are the many Dwarves working tirelessly over the forges and anvils. It is the song of their people and one that brings the town to life each day. The large rings of hammer on metal echo through the cavern but never does it seem that the sturdy mountain will collapse. The feeling of the noise is quite different. The bellowing noises strengthen the mountain and each building found within. The houses are all made of the stones gathered in creating the cavern so that nothing of the Great Mountain is ever wasted. The roof of each building is flat and near the cave ceiling, not even the space of the Great Mountain is wasted... so reverent are they of their creator and home. Even in times when a Dwarf leaves their Great Mountain home, there is never a place they love more.
For ones who are able to create such beauty, their town is a simple one. They have no interest in flowers or anything that cannot be smelted down into something wondrous. The only beauty they see is that forged of the hands of their own people and none other. It is here that any with a bag full of gold may place an order for whatever their heart desires. They will never deny a request with proper compensation. If you come to pay a visit to the Dwarves, one place must be visited lest you insult the village elders. Their tavern is a massive structure and is the heart of their city where all enter to work, share ale, and gather for town meetings. It is a place worth seeing even if you care not about insulting these small mountain men and women.
