Praneel
Patron of Curses
Alignment: Evil
Unknown to Praneel, his gift to Aeonleece had been tainted by a core of ancient evil. He was devastated by the loss of his beloved. He uttered a curse awakening the darkness within each human. He then watched over the globe for a time contemplating it's destruction until a young woman, who reminded him of Aeonleece, was about to meet with death. Taking pity he tried to save the young woman but his darkened heart tainted this gift as well, giving birth to a vampire. Praneel did care for his creation and encompassed the world in darkness for her, cursing all that loved the light to darkness. Even the very city darkened by the act of his spilled blood did not help his creation and became the kingdom of Nathaniel. Any good Praneel attempted fell to ruins and he is called upon as the father of curses.
Nathaniel
God of Death
Patron of Vampires
Alignment: Evil
Sleeping deep within the orb that would become Equinox, Death has always been and shall always be. The creations of Praneel, so reckless and savage, angered Nathaniel. Praneel took one meant for death out of a fanciful whim. Nathaniel forged his own line within the realm of Equinox with defiance to show what death was meant to be, silent and proud. While he has little care for Praneel's creations, any who exemplify death as he would have it are acceptable to him. His own chosen are held to a code of honor that they would do best to never forget.
Alexander
God of the Moon
Alexandria
Patroness of the Wolves
Alignment: Evil
The Lycan is the newest race of Equinox. They were not one made at the time of creation. The Lycans are mysterious. The lost journal is the only clue to their whereabouts and how they came to be. Together they rule beneath the moon, one unable to exist without the other. If not for the sister the brother could never have eluded the village’s guardians. If not for the brother, the sister would never have risen to become a goddess. It is rumored if they are ever separated in death, the Lycans will cease to be.
Arachnea
Goddess of Chaos
Patroness of the Drow
Alignment Evil
Arachnea, when she was only a spider, was searching for a place to lay her eggs and decided upon the orb that would become Equinox. Startled by the unexpected movement of the orb she reached out of her lair and struck Aeonleece drawing blood. The blood infused her and the world with new life, including her unborn children. She struggled to stay alive until the birth so that she may instruct them. She is forever a part of the many intricate caverns she made for them out of a mother’s love.
Deyndra
Goddess of Deception
Alignment: Evil
Seeing the humans brought a curse to Praneel's lips that served to awaken darkness within all humans. This darkness took form in the shape of deception. Deyndra breathed life from the curse and saw before her the human. In comparison, the human had much to desire and little to lose with their short lifespan. They would be the perfect followers for her to twist to her whims and lead down the path of destruction. Each human carries a part of Deyndra within them because of the father of curses, Praneel.
Melcara
Goddess of Night
Patroness of Assassins and Thieves
Alignment: Evil
The wind whispered through the trees as it followed the creatures known as Dark Elves. It watched as the Dark Elves murdered and stole for their means, delighted by their actions. The Dark Elves began to pray to any who would hear them to protect them as they went about their work knowing Julia had forsaken them. The wind billowed through the tunnel. She now was given the final thing necessary to exist, a name. Melcara watched over those of dark deeds shrouding them in the secrecy of night.
Eärlindë
Goddess of the Arcane
Patroness of the University
Alignment: Neutral
Eärlindë sat and watched the early mages struggle to learn their craft. With little resources available in the newly created lands it was a trial. She sent down to Equinox creatures that would aid her students in need of tools to learn the true potential of their path. They set up the first magical library. It was stocked with learned mages and books of magic. Then the familiars disappeared quietly into the coming dawn. She is credited with the University’s creation.
Julia
Goddess of Nature
Patroness of Elves
Alignment: Neutral
Julia created the Elves in competition with Leedun for Aeonleece's affection. They are her image of perfection and beauty. It was she who saved the world from the darkness Praneel had doomed Equinox to and sang to her people a rich melody to help them last through the night. While darkness that lingered troubled her she accepted it. With her last breath, in the place of her mother's death, encompassed the world with her very essence that no god may make playthings of her creations again. In this way Praneel, Leedun, and any other deity that happened upon Equinox could never again leave their mark.
Great Mountain
God of Knowledge & Craftsmanship
Patron of Dwarves
Alignment: Neutral
When Arachnea drew blood from Aeonleece, stray droplets rained upon the world breathing life where it landed. The mountain came to life and in his wisdom and understanding wished to explore the world and learn, though it was not to be. As he struggled the rocks that broke free came to form the dwarves. For some time he has not been heard, either unable to reach his people or in hibernation to escape the sorrow over his entrapment.
Gallievo
God of War
Alignment: Neutral
As with all creations, war is a part of that creation. When Aeonleece died Praneel went to war with the very thing his wife loved, Equinox. Gallievo was pleased. The world that had been so lovingly created would now be at war with each other. He would be there to create strife and urge on the races to battle each other and to win. He remained neutral. He has no favorites, really he does not care who wins as long as there was war in the world. His followers imagine themselves in his favor should they bring him victories and perhaps they are right. In order to be the victor you must first bring about war.
Mahtan
God of Valor
Alignment: Good
Mahtan is never seen. Those that have strength of mind, spirit, and who face their foes with courage feel him nearby, hovering over them. It is said that he came forth from the blood of Aeonleece when it flowed over the lands. It was her will that all wrong would one day be put right. He will guide all who are pure of heart and fight with honor. Those who feel his presence nearby are indeed blessed.
Aranel
God of Hope
Alignment: Good
Aranel watched as Praneel’s curse took effect and watched Deyndra grow within the human race. The darkness took over banishing all hope. Aranel swore with each new day that dawned, for those that remained true, Hope would renew itself again. For those that had already succumbed to the darkness of Praneel’s curse, hope could only flutter within them. Without the strong will a human can possess, hope could not take root in them and would only die.
Leedun
God of Innocence
Patron of Fey
Alignment: Good
Leedun created the Fey out of love for his mother and gave them an innocence that cannot be rivaled by any other race. He hoped his beautiful and whimsical creations that could never bear hatred, anger, or any unsavory emotion would bring her happiness. After the death of Aeonleece, he cared for his father Praneel until the time of his sister's death. Unable to endure all the responsibilities that fell to him he took to the cosmos leaving everything behind. He, like his creations, was never meant for such a life. Though he is gone, his spirit lives on in each of his creations.
Marcus
God of Justice
Alignment: Good
In the earliest of human civilizations, there was no law to guide them and Deyndra delighted in confusing the mortals. The eldest man of the city came forward offering to lead them through the times of darkness. In his old age he had lost his ability to see though none knew of his sad fate. They accepted him and Marcus ruled without bias until his dying day, when his word became law. Many cried for their lost arbitrator even as his son stepped up to take his place. Marcus never forgot his people and continues to guide the royal line, watching over them from the realm of the dead. It is said that their longing for justice kept him in Equinox to guide them and their rulers.
